It’s been a busy couple of days!
Saturday night, we went to a friend’s 30th surprise birthday party. Matt’s parents were so great to watch Lottie for Mom and Dad’s night out!
On Sunday, we had church and all of the regular Sunday afternoon chores (nap included, of course! We had a huge storm roll in, which made for the most perfect napping weather.
That evening I co-hosted a staff ladies and wives night. The party was not at our house, but I was taking care of the food. We like to host these nights to get the ladies together and introduce anyone new to the group. We just hired a new young adult pastor, so we wanted to introduce his wife to everyone. I made lemon bars and a charcuterie board and purchased brownies and chocolate chip cookies. I was so happy with how the board turned out!

At the social, I learned that there was a hurricane heading our way (how had I missed that?!). The next day, Hillsborough County announced that schools would be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Our church follows the school system, so we it was a mad dash to get ahead of things on Monday afternoon.

Monday night Matt put out our sandbags and loaded items in our carport onto the back porch and into the shed. We went back and forth all day trying to decide whether to stay at Matt’s parent’s house last night or at ours. Our house is very close to the bay and on low ground. His parent’s house is more inland and on higher ground. After dinner, we made the choice to just play it safe and bunk up with them. Matt went back to check on our house and this is the street leading up to our neighborhood! But our house is a couple of feet off of the street and was completely fine! We are so grateful for the Lord’s protection over us and over our house.
